I am having a flashback. I can see two big apes or gorillas or something. And bananas; lots of bananas. And the monkeys are being tossed at each other. And, and, and, the bananas are EXPLODING! Ya just gotta love Qbasic.

Zee Artillery is a rendition of the long but never forgotten gorilla.bas file that came on all of our PC,s some scant years ago, in the days, long forgotten, of Windows version 3.1. In those days, Qbasic was the primary way for any ole Joe or Jane to program his or her own games. Gorilla, the most famous Qbasic game, up there with Nibbles (which PLBM should make a clone of) and a lesser-known non-game called money.bas, a prelude to Microsoft Money and Quicken.

Zee Artillery is a good shot at bringing Gorilla back to life, but there are a few little flaws here and there. Gorilla uses coordinates and a numbers to allow the user to strategically fire on his opponent and was turn based. Zee tried to step aside and make the game live action with both players firing at each other at any time, one shot at a time.

The game also takes out the Gorilla coordinate system and uses a power meter and angle of attack, very similar to kicking a field goal in any football video game. A nice touch, but I liked the Gorilla system.

Zee also fails to compensate in the field of sound, which is missing totally from the game.

All in all, you'd have to rip Gorilla and Qbasic from an OLD computer in order to play the game again. Download Zee; its just that much easier.
