Jasc's Paint Shop Pro is a great, reasonably priced graphics editor. You can paint, edit, and retouch images, import photos from scanners and digital cameras, create webgraphics or graphics for brochures, newsletters, business cards, etc. Paint Shop Pro also contains filters for image deformations, bevels, sculpture and texture effects, as well as "Animation Shop", a separate application that allows you to create animated GIFs. New to Paint Shop Pro 6 (from the previous version) are JPEG and GIF optimizers and Digimarc watermarking capability.

At about 1/6th the price of the industry standard graphics editor, Paint Shop Pro is a steal. The shareware version is time limited to 30 days, but fully functional. If you're interested in creating graphics, give it a try!
