This program is especially designed for browsing, viewing, sorting, cropping, resampling and maintaining a collection of digital photographic images. While it does support other images, namely GIF, BMP, PNG, and TIF, PCX, and PSD with limitations, it was created for JPG’s and it works best with those. Also JPG is best suited to photographic images.
It kinda looks like file manager, [and if you don’t remember what file manager is, then it’s too late for you to be awake and on the computer] it has a split screen, with the directory tree on the left and the thumbnail show up on the right. This, along with many other features makes locating, viewing, sorting, cross indexing, and much more very easy. There is even a automatic sizing feature that is fantastic-well, actually the whole program is great.
When you chose a directory from the left side of the screen, the only contents that do show up are your images, and there is a whole slew of stuff to make your life easier. There is a key indexing feature that allows you to sort your images by categories to make it easier to find one. I should know. I love p ictures; of sunsets, dragons, collies, animations, all kinds of things. So all I can do is create folders on my CD [I have a “burner” thank God] and try to make sure I put only dragons in the dragons folders. BUT now, to try to find just one picture on a CD full, with folders marked Dragons 1 thru 27 can be hair-raising. The key creates a logical connection between the key and the file, without duplicating it, or taking up much more tha n a few bytes.
There are also buttons for auto sizing, make bigger thumbnail, make smaller thumbnail, slide show, batch resize, favorites, and much, much more. Also there is a lot of information about image files, as in color, dithering, compression, etc.-pretty good information I might add. If you are into pictures-a couple or a bunch, then this program is for you. Give it a try!
