500 is a very confusing game that was created as a variant of Euchre. The object of the game is to get 500 points and to avoid collecting -500 points. The game is played with 2 teams. The game starts with each player bidding for how many tricks they think they can take, with their partner’s help and a trump suit. The highest bidder must win the number of tricks bid or lose those points. 250 points is awarded for all 10 tricks, and the non bidding team gets 10 point per trick.

There is something called a Misere, or Nullo where the played tries to lose all 10 tricks. There is also something called an open Misere and a closed misere. There is also a 3 card kitty, or a 5 card kitty.

Perhaps I’m just dense but I’ve played dozens of hands and I still don’t know what I’m doing.
