Zen is a 2 person game based on the cellular Life automation discovered by the mathematian Conway. A cellular automation is a framework of cells that change periodically depending on their previous state and surroundings.
In this particular game, living cells that are touching 2 or 3 living cells will survive to the next round, if they are not touching 2 or 3 living cells they will die, and if a empty cell is touched by exactly 3 living cells, a new one is born. The growth and decay are beautiful and fascinating, because they are finely balanced and have a basis in math.
The skill of the game is to take control and manipulate the patterns and destroy your enemy. In this game each living cell has allegiance, either green or red. You will play either one of these colors, your enemy will play the other.
The rules are a little complicated, so I’m not going to quote them, or paraphrase them. This is one of those games you will just have to download and try out-it’s worth checking out anyway!
