I love webgraphics and photographs; my computer is awash with them. ACDSee is a wonderful tool that helps you view, organize, print and share your files.

ACDSee 4.0's interface, although drastically altered from previous versions, is very user friendly. It recognizes over 50 multimedia formats, from jpegs/gifs/tiffs to mp3s/wavs/ and mpegs. The program window is divided into three tabs. On the left, the contents and directory of your hard or floppy disk is displayed. If you select a folder, thumbnail versions of that folder's images appear in the righthand window. Clicking on a thumbnail will display a larger preview in the bottom left, and a double click will display it full-sized separately. As with most image viewers, the first time you open a folder takes awhile, as all the thumbnails are being created, but the second time's a breeze, as those thumbnails are now stored in a database. ACDSee has sorting capabilities: You can sort by size, type, or customize the thumbnails' size and/or appearance.

The thumbnails are easily managed by dragging and dropping them into the appropriate folder. If you want to share your images online, you can click the "Share" button and then the "HTML" button on the toolbar. ACDSee then creates the HTML file with a thumbnail version of each photo you want to display linked to the full-sized image. All you have to do is upload them to your website!

ACDSee also includes batch image-processing features, which allows conversion from jpeg to gif, etc. These features are a little complicated, but useable and functional.

A simple photo editor, FotoCanvas Lite, is included in ACDSee. You can crop pictures, remove redeye, correct color tone and apply basic filter tools. A handy screen-capture utility is also included. With a simple rightclick on the systray icon, and then the click of a hot key, you've created your screenshot!

The shareware version of ACDSee is fully functional for 30 days; the registration costs $49.95 U.S. After registration, you're eligible for free telephone and online support. The people at ACDSystems have always been prompt and courteous with responses to my questions.

I love ACDSee; I think you will, too. For the price, it has a great many features that separately would costs you considerably more. Another great feature of ACDSee are all the new plugins; stay tuned for further reviews! Download the shareware version of ACDSee and give it a try!
