I agree with Lavasoft: I want to make up MY OWN mind.

I've reviewed Ad-Aware before, when version 4.02 came out. Well, the good folks at Lavasoft have upgraded the software and it deserves another look.

To begin with, Ad-aware detects more types of spyware (Adware, Alexa, Aureate v1.0,2.0 and 3.0, Comet Cursor v1.0 and v2.0, Cydoor, Doubleclick, DSSAgent, EverAd, OnFlow, Flyswat, Gator, TimeSink v1.0, v2.0, and v5.0, Web3000 and Webhancer), can be started from a scheduler, and can create logfiles automatically. It's also now Windows NT compatible. The registry scan has been improved, and you can set Ad-Aware to run minimized in the background and run automatically at Windows startup.

I have now used Ad-Aware for four months without incident.

I recommend Ad-aware and give it a five star rating!
