WinRAR is an archiver and archive manager. A RAR file can usually compress its content 8-15% more than a zip or arj file.

Compression files aren't my strong suite, but I do store a lot of data. Since I don't yet have a CDRW, all my files, however large they are, must be compressed to fit floppies. I downloaded, installed, and ran WinRAR. It's user interface is attractive, clean, and very easy to understand. WinRAR allows you to break down files into segments which will span 1.44 MB disks. It also includes damaged archive repair which I thankfully didn't have to try! If you like, you can also password protect your archives to save them from your roomies!
