As always, I'm amazed at the quality and quantity of freeware available on the internet.

Here are nine filters for graphics editors (such as Adobe PhotoShop, Fractal Design Painter, and Macromedia Director). You can choose to download any of the filters individually, or the entire set of nine filters. The filters are: Darken Edges, Darken RGB Edges, Pixelate Edges Black, Pixelate Edges Transparent, Pixelate Black, Pixelate Transparent, Vignette Transparent, Vignette White, and White Out. Media Spark's website provides photos of the effects of each filter on one graphic (to view each filters effects click http://mediaspark.com/filters.htm.

If you choose to download the entire Windows-compatible set, as I did, it comes as one self-inflating execute file. To install these filters, you must be familiar with your own image editor's plugins setup. Once installed, they are easy to use. You simply choose the particular filter from your image editor's drop down menu, and the filters user interface appears. To apply, you adjust the sliders until you achieve the desired effect, then click "ok".
