I'm on a roll! Picture Dicer is a wonderful freeware application that you can use to chop image files into several smaller images to create mouseover effects and image maps on webpages. It also will generate the HTML for the table to put the partial images together and display them as the original uncut image.
The program downloads as a zip file; simply unzip. There is no install. The user interface is very plain and it's easy to use (simply open an image, use the mouse to make cuts, select process image when you're satisfied with your cuts, the software does the rest!). When you're through, you have your original image, all the pieces, and the html file to put the image together. What more could you ask for free?!
Picture Dicer Pro should be forthcoming -- it won't be freeware, but shareware, and will have many more features. I'm looking forward to it. The word is that the freeware version will remain available; just in case, grab it now!
