Are you on the lookout for free software? Then take a look at
BackUpWatcher! This is a nice addition especially if you must do daily backups
of your Server. Here’s the scenario: You are the IT Manager that places a heavy
emphasis on making solid, dependable backups of all data. Day in and day out you
run backups during "off" hours in hopes that all goes well and all files are
indeed backed up. Each day you come to work and check for any errors in the
backups and generate reports of any files that were not backed up successfully.
The story goes on and on doesn’t it? BackupWatcher helps make certain that your
backup software has really done its job!
Although this is a free Windows Server tool, do not let that fact mislead you.
BackupWatcher will examine the effectiveness of your backup software with a few
options that are sure to please most IT Managers (and their bosses). This is one
more means of safe and reliable protection of valuable data. It will give you a
report of just how well data was backed up and report any missing files via a
detailed pie chart. These reports can be setup to be emailed to you on a daily
basis thus, all you’d have to do first thing when going to work is check your
email! How great is that!? You can then, if needed take any corrective actions.
Using BackupWatcher is a great time saver as well as a way to address any Server
issues that came about during the "last" backup. Set it up for scheduled
runtimes and you’re all but ready to go! It will give you a quick report of a
single computer, or several. If something then has gone amiss, you’ll be the
first to be notified (if setup to email).
This is a great little app that does one thing, and does it well. If you manage
Servers, or just want to be confident that your backups are truly backed up. .
.see if BackupWatcher doesn’t meet most of your needs. One annoying thing I
noticed while using BackupWatcher was the fact that every time it was launched,
you had to go through the Installation Wizard before you actually got to the
main program. But then again, for the price, reports and it doing what it was
intended to do, this is a nice addition and aide.
