POV-Ray is a program that allows the user to create stunning images that are incredibly realistic and yet also allows the user to let their imagination run wild.

POV-Ray uses code, called a scene description language, to create the images. This can take a little while to learn, but is actually quite powerful. For examples of what POV-Ray can do, follow this link:- http://www.povray.org/community/hof/.

The help file that comes with the program has detailed descriptions of the language and how to use it. If the help file isn't able to help or, if it is too hard to understand, the POV-Ray news groups have many people (some of whom have contributed to POV-Ray's continuing development) that are highly experienced in using POV-Ray who are glad to help.
