Once you have a folder full of folders, it becomes quite hard to quickly find the folder that you want. That is why I wrote a program that allowed me to change the default folder icon to one of my choice. But aside from Novell threatening to sue me over my unfortunate name choice, not much came of it. However, if it was as well polished as "Change Folder Icons", maybe things would have been different.

"Change Folder Icons", or CFI, not only will change your icons, it will also search your hard drive for suitable icons. The program can be started normally, or via an option added to the "Right-Click" menu of all folders. In addition to this, all past changes are remembered and icon exporting is also supported.

My only major gripe is the lack of a Tooltip addition feature, which I feel would make this program near perfect. Overall however, this is an excellent and practical program and is much recommended.
