Links Suite III + DMOZ Extractor

Type of Program: URL Extractor
Supported Platforms: Windows 95/98/NT 4/ME/2K
Company Name: PJL Technology
Version: 3.1
Price: $34.95
Installed Size:
One of the real pains of searching out links is the consumption
of time that could be put to more productive use. If you want to produce subject
related links pages for your site or just want to build a links site on a theme
it is extremely tedious, until now that is.
Links Suite III is a desktop application that allows you to browse the internet
via the program and when you find a page that relates to the subject matter you
are looking for a simple mouse-click will then extract every URL on that site
and place them in an Access database. You can build this list of URLs into
thousands if you want and then comes the joy of this software. The list you have
so easily built can now be spidered for the title, description and keyword meta
tags and email reference. Now you can output the records to an Access Database,
an Excel Spreadsheet, or raw HTML code and whittle away what you don't want. You
can search local files just as easily.
So what can you do with all this easily gleaned info? Well how about links
pages, reciprocal links, search directories, home search business etc. etc.
These are just some of the options available to help you compile the former
View Database:
Changes the Browser Screen to allow access to the Results Table, URL Database,
and HTML Code from last page retrieved.
View/Extract URL's: Can be thought of as manual extraction mode. Allows viewing
of the actual HTML code behind the page. This is very useful when
troubleshooting parsing problems. Also note that the windows allows code to be
edited, inserted, or removed.
Auto Extract URL's:
Automatically parses the current browser page to the Results Table. Note that at
the bottom of the browser is a status bar showing the percent of the page that
is loaded. Be sure the page is fully loaded before you attempt to parse it. Also
not that this feature will automatically exclude all URL's that link back into
the domain being parse.
Bulk Search Engine Extraction:
This feature allows the user to type in a keyword or combination of keywords and
automatically parse a selected number of records from either Google or Open
Directory. As with all parsing, the URL's will be placed in the Results Table.
Bundled with Links Suite III is DMOZ Extractor and as I couldn't better the
makers description I have reproduced it below.
The Extractor essentially works in the following fashion ... The user navigates
through the DMOZ within the programs built in browser. When the Sub-category or
directory he/she wants is reached they simply click on an Auto-Extraction Icon
and the program then proceeds to deep spider the category from there. The
program then records the categories under the chosen directory and loads and
extracts each page into an Access DB until the end of the directory is reached.
At this point an entire database of categorized links with titles and
descriptions exist. Since most Search Directories also have input options for
the sites keywords and email address, a spidering function was also developed
into the program. When this option is involved the program goes to each URL
record in the database and looks for and records the meta-tag keywords as well
as an email address if it exists. To complete the process the program also has
the ability to convert the database to GT Links 2.0, iWeb Hyperseek/ILink, or
HTML data.
This software reduces to hours what took a month or more before and is superb
value for money.
