A few years ago I had the privilege of reviewing this program. I
believe that as you read this review you will see some differences between the
two reviews. Namely, perhaps a better ranking on this newest release. Now I know
that some of you may have had some less than better experiences with Multimedia
Fusion (MMF for short) in the past but if you would take a look at this review
along with the newest version of MMF I believe that you will be pleasantly
surprised. If you need further in-depth information on MMF please see the other
review by doing a Search) as this most current review will focus more on the
vast improvements.
First and foremost are the remarkable improvements in the User Interface. Gone
are the crowded, hard to get to windows. Gone are losing focus of where you’ve
been or what you want to go to. Gone are the cumbersome keystrokes/clicks. In
its place is a much faster engine along with a great interface where "all"
windows are very easy to reach and see at the click of a mouse button. For users
with a resolution of 1024x768 or greater you should be able to see all windows,
at all times!
For those unfamiliar with MMF, this program allows you to easily create
complete, stand-alone applications or screen savers. MMF lets you combine text,
graphics, video, animation, and audio into your finished products. With a short
learning curve users will be able to accomplish their objectives relatively
quickly. MMF doesn't use a scripting or programming language to create complex
applications. Instead, everything is mouse/menu driven. The Event Editor allows
you to specify actions to execute when specific conditions occur in the
application. If you are familiar with other multimedia authoring tools that use
a script language then you should find working with the Event Editor just as
easy to accomplish most of the same tasks without the work of writing code or
scripting!
Here are some of the newest features found in the latest release:
1. A redesigned interface that is easy to navigate
2. Explorer windows that you can use to access application, frame, and object
properties
3. Object-oriented functionality, so you can drag and drop elements between
applications, and change the order of frames by dragging them in the Storyboard
editor
4. Property bars that change automatically to accommodate the task you want to
perform
5. The Vitalize! plugin, so you can easily distribute your Multimedia Fusion
applications over the Internet
6. A Project Editor, where you can work with more than one application at a
time, and drag and drop objects or frames between applications
The people at MMF really appear to listen to their users. Just by taking a look
at these user suggested improvements and the great support that comes along with
it shows how much they want to keep improving MMF! With its now easier to use
interface take another look at MMF and see if it doesn’t match up to your needs.
