CalendarPro

Type of Program: Graphics
Supported Platforms: Win9x/ME/XP/NT 4.x/2000
Authors Name: Digilabs
Version: 1.9
Price: 29.95
Installed Size: 45.7 MB
CalendarPro allows you to easily create your own custom designed
calendars that you can print on your desktop printer or send to the author
DigiLabs for professional printing. Once the 7 day trial expires you'll no
longer be able to print your own but if you send a design in for printing by
DigiLabs you'll receive a license key. The price is $29.95 to print one calendar
with discounts for quantities. They print professional quality 12x18 calendars
using the CMYK 4-color process.
Installation is straightforward and if you don't already have the required Java
Runtime 1.4 component it's installed as well. One thing I thought was a little
cheesy was the nag screen for the shareware installer that's used. Another is
that the user guide is a PDF document which is rather unconventional. The
program interface is sleek and uncluttered with a toolbar that has drop down
menus for Month, Year and Template and buttons for New, Open, Save, Undo and
Zoom in/out. Another toolbar gives access to all functions/options via the File,
Edit, Personalize and Help menus. There are 19 templates to get you started but
most (15) are in the 12x18 format that can't be printed on the average desktop
printer. You can make a standard top binding calendar or a "double" with center
binding. Practically every aspect of a template can be customized from the
Personalize menu or by double clicking or right clicking an item in the
template.
I was able to create a great looking calendar in a matter of minutes.
You can add one or more pictures which you can drag to resize but you are
limited to jpgs or gifs so you'll have to convert bmp and other formats first.
One thing I wish they had included in the image open dialog is a preview
function. There's an option to insert US, French, Chinese, Canadian, German,
Muslim, Jewish, Spanish, Mexican or UK holidays. You can insert your own events
like birthdays, anniversaries etc. and there's a large choice of clip art like
birthday cakes, hearts and such, or you can use your own. The user guide is
thorough and has some good info on image color size and resolution but it has
some typos and grammatical errors which I always find annoying in help files.
It's fun making your own custom calendars and with the holidays coming up they
would make nice gifts. It's fast easy and the price is reasonable. Try this one,
I'm sure you'll like it.
