When it comes to deciding on which type of PC game to get sometimes that choice can be hard. So why not get one that was developed by seasoned professionals? An independent game company markets Marble Blast Gold although behind the scenes you will see that it was created by some of the greater minds in the business.

As you would expect, Marble Blast Gold is a marble type of game. Your objective is to roll your marble through various moving platform Levels detailed in rich, colorful cartoon landscapes. As you move along in each Level you can gain power-ups to increase your speed, jumping ability or some that give you flight powers. Collect them to find hidden gems along the way. But be careful, there are many hazards along your path as you race against time.

In the Gold Edition you have so many Levels it will take you quite some time to make it through each and every one! You must qualify in order to continue on to the next harder Level so be prepared to spend some time working your way through them all. In every Level you have a time limit (the Gold Time) that is possible to get, but is not as easy as one might expect. Marble Blast Gold has three varying Stages of play; Beginner (24 Levels), Intermediate (24 Levels) and Advanced (52 Levels) as well as a Custom Level once you can qualify for it (I never did managed to qualify yet). Now, because you cannot pick and choose to play any Level you want in any of the three Stages you can see that you may be playing Marble Blast Gold for some time. So pull up a seat and be prepared to stay awhile.

If that's not enough to keep you in game shape, or you do manage to get through all of these Levels there are several new Levels that you can download. New Levels are posted on the Marble Blast Forum every now and then to keep you going. Using the keyboard to move navigate was a bit troublesome at times for me but other than that and once you get the hang of moving, it's a blast.

This is a fun game that should keep anyone busy for hours. I liked the excellent colorful backgrounds (it reminded me of some of the old style platform arcade games). With PC game prices sky rocketing higher and higher these days it's nice to see an independent game company break the sticker shock and bring game titles back down to a more normal range. With new Levels that you can download for free along with support Forums, about the only thing you have to lose here in Marble Blast Gold are your own "marbles" as you try to complete all Levels included. So get ready to do a little rockin' as you keep on rollin' for a good time.
