GetDiz

Type of Program: Text Editor
Supported Platforms: Win 95/98/NT/ME/2K/XP
Company Name: Outer Technologies
Version: 2.6
Price: Freeware
Installed Size: 688 KB
GetDiz is a specially designed text editor designed to read the
files that often come inside program archives explaining the “whats” and “whys”
about the program. They generally have either a DIZ or NFO file extension, hence
the name of the program.
I find this program odd, largely because of its relatively huge size for what it
actually does. The GetDiz main program is 492 KB, while Notepad is 50KB, and
WordPad (which includes full Rich Text formatting) is under 200KB. It doesn't
even have a toolbar. However, the program is not all bad. Aside from offering
the ability to change the font as well as font colour and background it will
highlight relevant words (“serial", "install", "@", "contact", "http://" and
"ftp://") to help you sift through a DIZ / NFO. It also will remember the users
preferred window size for the three file types ( DIZ / NFO / TXT ) that GetDiz
supports.
As a text editor GetDiz is a let down as well, not even supporting Drag and
Drop, nor Unicode. GetDiz is free so it is worth considering trying it out, but
seeing that it is so big and it doesn't have any hugely remarkable features it
doesn't seem worth it.
