WinDay is a designed to show you at a quick glance the details of the day. The program forms a digital version of a day details calendar, showing what happened on this day in history and famous birthdays. (The events are targeted towards a USA user, but a substantial amount of world and historical data is shown.) However, unlike traditional colanders, it can also show accurately sunset and moon data as WinDay accepts Lat/Long data. (Surprising, it does not use local data to roughly set your location.) It even shows a quote.

You can look at past and future dates and it can be set to start with Windows. WinDay also allows the user to add their own data, but this feature is limited by the fact that only one event may be set for each day. Thus while it is not suitable for a total calendar replacement, it does give you a lot of good information in a simple way.
