The install went sort of okay. You can put the files for the program where ever you want them. Then it said that my video card was set to 256 colors and that it needed a higher resolution to work. I could call them for instructions on how to fix this. My resolution was not set to 256 colors. The program then opened and I faced the registration hurtle.
To use this trial version you have to register it. You have to give them your name, address, phone number etc. Even if you reside outside of the States you are required to enter in 2 letter state code.

After all of this I then attempted to try to import 3 recipes in MealMaster format. The program hung. I had to re-install.

I then decided to stay away from the import function and look at the rest of the program. First of all lets get one thing straight. I own and have used about every type of cooking software that has been made. From MealMaster to Now You're Cooking! and Master Cook. And others too obscure to mention. Cook'n seems to have all of the features that are the best of all of them. Including the nutrition and shopping features.

The ease of entering new recipes is good too. It uses the popular auto-complete feature.

You can also import reipes in MealMaster and MasterCook format.

The reality though is that it looks like to get everything that Cook'n can do, you will have to order one of their cd's. Which is not necessarily a bad thing since they have a lot to offer to help with your cooking experience.
