Links Suite 4 + DMOZ Extractor
Type of Program: URL Extractor
Supported Platforms: Windows 95/98/NT 4/ME/2K
Company Name: PJL Technology
I make no bones about it, I am a great fan of this combination
of Links Suite and Dmoz extractor. So what is it you ask? Let the makers
"Imagine a desktop application that allows you to browse the Internet like your
favorite browser. And then with a mouse click will strip every URL on a page
into an Access database. And then after you've acquired 1000's of links imagine
this same program then being able to spider each and every URL in the database
for a Title, Description, Keywords, and E-Mail reference. And if that's not
enough envision this same program then allowing you to output the records to an
Access Database, an Excel Spreadsheet, raw HTML code or in CSV format. Image the
Links Pages that could be constructed ... the Search Directories that could be
built ... the data that could be mined for Reciprocating Links Programs ... the
index's you could compile in hours instead of weeks."
That's what it is and that last bit is particularly true. Building thousands of
links is very easy and very fast. On top of the output of records options listed
in the previous paragraph you can also convert them to - DC Links 2000,
ilink/hyperseek, ASCII, EasySearch and GT Links 2.
Dmoz Extractor which is bundled with this package (both programs can be bought
separately) is equally impressive and lets you extract urls from any part of the
Open Directory. As far as I know this is the only Open Directory third party
program that allows you to build category specific directories. The others let
you start from a category but show the others as well, Dmoz Extractor lets you
build a one category directory from any Dmoz directory. See
http://www.welshquest.co.uk which was built using Open Directory regional
category UK/Wales and Dmoz Extractor in less than a day.
If you want to build links directories, search engines, industry specific links
etc. then there is nothing that comes close to this. You will feel guilty paying
only $49.95 for this excellent software.
