The installation was easy and intuitive. No problem there. You
will probably get into a conversation with Word on accepting Macros. Say yes.
Okay I'll admit when I was assigned this program to review I let out a groan. I
couldn't see how any program that's purpose is to show Word formatting could be
worth $75. Or be useful at all. I was wrong. Let's get to it.
This program is going to be useful in every office on the planet. Let me give
you an easy to understand example. How many times have you gotten a Word
document that you had to edit and it took you forever to figure out why this or
that was turning your brain into jelly because you could not figure out what was
making it look that way? How about the trouble you have with formatting after
you paste text from another source into your document?
Well those days are over once you have CrossEyes. Here is the deal. You have
CrossEyes installed. You get to a place in any document where you need to see
what is "really" going on with the formatting. You then just click on the
CrossEyes icon on the toolbar and low and behold the bottom of your screen
reveals all. There you will be synchronized with Word. As you move your cursor
in your Word document it moves in the CrossEyes window below.
It is really intuitive. The CrossEyes window appears as a light green color and
all the formatting information appears in different colors. So it really makes
it easy to see. (you can customize the way it looks) It makes it easy to change
the formatting of a document and you can also make a snapshot of the CrossEyes
window which you can email to someone or print out.
I could go on and on about the ways that CrossEyes is useful. (Like Manipulating
section breaks..) But why bother? You can get your own trial version of
CrossEyes and see for yourself. Your office won't be able to be without it after
five minutes.
