There are a number of backup software utilities on the market.
Some price ranges are anywhere from $0.00 to hundreds of dollars. But you know
what? They all are supposed to do the same thing. They are to backup your
software, that's all that is asked of any of them.
Now you can add BakBot to this growing list in this genre. BakBot is a Shareware
program that backs up your data automatically but does so as a Windows Service,
thus in order for this program to work on your computer you must also download
and install the NET Framework files (version 1.1) available through Microsoft.
You can archive your files and back them up automatically to a number of
destinations including FTP. With this program you of course can configure it to
meet many of your needs such as when and where to backup, etc. and you can use
it graphical interface to setup and schedule your backups.
One thing it does lack, or rather its site lacks is much of any good
information. There is no support per se other than an email address (which in
itself is good) as I have declined purchasing software for this reason alone.
Should you decide to download this program I would suggest downloading it from
the Cohortec site directly or from the Download.com link since one of the others
does not work and with the NoNags link you will have to search and wade through
its site for it (no direct link). Speaking of which, it is through Download.com
where you only then find any type of price for BakBot.
Looking through many of the other Cohortec's applications and resume I find that
they do have some expertise and knowledge in developing some in-depth programs
and programming, which is nice to know when dealing with applications such as
BakBot.
