Over normal use of any computer your Registry starts to takes
hits over and over again. When you install a program and then later uninstall it
most likely leaves fragments of it lying around in your Registry. The Registry
is like a huge warehouse of information that stores everything about your
system. When programs are, what you have in your computer, when any application
was installed, license keys and so on. Over time the Registry can become
overwhelming with information with thousands upon thousands on entries that
control the behavior of your system. Soon your computer takes longer and longer
to start-up, applications seem to run slower, or worse yet, things start to
crash!
Because the Registry is like your central nervous system of your computer it
would be wise to treat it as such and take care of it. The longer you wait to do
anything about it as it continues to grow, the more likely something will
happen. Although the Registry can indeed grow larger it will never shrink. Even
though you may think that once you've removed a program that it too will be
removed from the Registry, think again. When you remove a program the Registry
simply marks it as being now blank but remains in, and on your system. When this
happens the Registry could then become fragmented over time. So what is the
answer? You know that you can defragment your hard drive so why not be able to
do the same with your Registry?
Ok, enough with the education. Because your Registry can become fragmented and
decrease your overall performance of your system, Registry Compactor comes to
the rescue and will optimize your Registry, compact it and defragment it, giving
you back some of your system's performance!
After using Registry Compactor your Registry will as said, be compacted which in
turn allows the needed data to be accessed via your system and applications to
be obtained faster, it will reduce the amount of time it takes for your system
to boot (it won't be loading needless, empty entries), by reducing the size of
the Registry your system's Memory will then be available for other applications
and perhaps more importantly, by reducing and compacting the size of the
Registry you have a less likelihood of system crashes!
Many Users may be intimidated by the "R" word (Registry) because it is so vital
to any computer's existence. One mess up in there and it could temporarily doom
your entire machine. In plain terms, Registry Compactor rebuilds the Registry by
removing unused file space. No registry keys are deleted or modified by the
compaction process and furthermore, the program backs-up the Registry before it
makes any changes. You will be able to see from its graphical map your Registry
in the form of "Used" and "Unused" blocks of the Registry as well as the
percentage of space (both before and after). There is a "Restore" option (even
from DOS) should anything go wrong that will take your Registry back to where it
was before compacting it.
Registry Compactor is a nice app to keep around for those times when you know
something is jamming up your Registry (you don't have to run it every day, but
now and then never hurts). It is a simple program to run and will take you
step-by-step through the entire process. I noticed right away an increase in
boot-up time after running it to compact and defrag my Registry. The program
passed the tests I put it through, the price is nice and support for the program
appears to be great so go ahead and try it out yourself and see how well and
fine tuned your system really can be.
