During the installation you are prompted for a password for the
program. You are not given any option as to where to install the program files.
(It installs in: "C:\Program Files\Computer Business Solutions\Time Control\)
After the install you are prompted to do a re-boot. When you re-boot you will
find a new user installed on your computer called "Kids Admin" to log onto Kids
Admin you must use the password you inserted during the install.
Here is the rest of the process (From the Readme.htm):
1. Start Time Control
from the Windows Start menu by choosing the KidsWatch program group and clicking
on the Time Control program.
2. Click the Add button
to setup each User of the computer with an account (User Name and Password) if
one does not already exist.
3. Click the Password button to
create a password for all existing Users if one does not already exist.
4. Click on the
restrictions button to configure each User’s computer and program restrictions.
Time Control allows you to customize each user with a unique set of
restrictions.
When you go to setup the time control for each user you can either use the
defaults that are setup for different types of users (Child, Teenager, Young
Adult, Custom, Adult, or Administrator). As an example the settings for a Child
are 2 hours a day between the hours of 9am and 8pm.
So here is how it worked for me. I setup a new user "Billy" selected Child, it
then took me to "Internet Access" restrictions setup. There I could setup the
days and times that Billy could have internet access.
From there it took me to a "Program Restrictions" setup for Billy. There I could
easily select which program I wanted to let Billy use and at what times. Then I
was taken to the next Window which lets you setup whether or not you want to
allow Billy to install software.
In conclusion if you have one kid or a number of them and you want to be in the
drivers seat with their internet and software access Time Control is the program
for you. You can easily set it up, each child and you will have their own
desktop and settings, and you will have peace of mind.
Well what are you waiting for? Go download it! Those nice people at Computer
Business Solutions give you a full 30 days to try it out.
