The installation of xplorer˛ is easy and intuitive. You can
place the program files where you want them. Plus you are given all the right
options about icon and Start Menu placement. Unlike lots of software these days
that arbitrarily places it's icons wherever it wants.
When you start up xplorer˛ you are told that it is has 21 day evaluation period.
Fair enough. Also the Tip of the day then pops up.
So the question is what do you need a Windows Explorer replacement for? The
answer is to work faster and smarter. Does xplorer˛ do that? Yes it surely does.
Here are some of the ways that it will make you appreciate it. It has a dual
Window feature as default, if you have never worked with dual windows you don't
know what you are missing. It is great for file management. It has all kinds of
viewing options. Plus it has a preview option that you can use to see certain
files right in xplorer˛. It has a built in file splitting utility that will
instantly break a file up into sections so that it will fit onto different media
(floppy, 650mb and 700mb cds). It also has a file shredder.
But and you might think I'm strange, the feature that xplorer˛ has that I really
like is the Scrap Containers feature (think Scrapbook). With it you can place in
a virtual folder a bunch of files from different locations and do your work on
them.
You can also synchronize and clone folders. xplorer˛ also has a really great
File Finder built in that has all kinds of options.
One problem I've had with other explorer replacement programs is they seem to be
real resource hogs and slower than molasses in January. Not xplorer˛ it doesn't
use up that many resources and it is really fast.
In conclusion xplorer˛ is the best explorer replacement program I've ever seen.
It is a really small download and you get 21 days to try it out, so what are you
waiting for?
