The installation of The Sleuthhound is easy and intuitive. You are give the opportunity of installing the program files anywhere you want them. Plus you are given the option to place a shortcut on the QuickLaunch area and your Desktop.

When you start The Sleuthhound you will find out that you have a full 30 days to try out the program. Then you are asked to define a search area, with the My Documents selected as the default. After you do this The Sleuthhound will then index the search area so that when you want to search all of the heavy lifting has been already done by The Sleuthhound. Depending on the size of the area to be searched this could take some time. You can also define what kind of documents you want to include. I let it include all of the possible types, and after awhile I got a message saying that the trial version is limited to 2000 documents.

So now you have your "Search Area" now what? Well you search of course! That is when you are going start getting excited. The Sleuthhound searches through all of that created index in a New York minute. Make that a New York second. Then it presents you with a beautiful HTML page that can be saved and also it can be made into a even nicer HTML "Search Report" page. This page and the Result Browser page will show you a summary of the documents in the search results and a clickable link to the document it found. Nice really nice.

In conclusion before I tried The Sleuthhound I didn't know that I needed it, after I tried it I can't do without it.
