LeftMargin Pro is an excellent program for the aspiring author. It offers a step-by-step process for creating a novel from outline to finished manuscript. At $229.00 it's a little pricey, but the serious writer should find it worth the investement. While the demo-version is complete with no dissabled features, the 30 day trial peroid isn't enough time for most writers to complete an entire project.

With easy to use features, the writer can create individual character profiles and even import pictures. A spell check and thesaurus are easily accessible from the scene editing tool bar. Scene notes allow the writer to keep track of characters, places and actions. (A helpful tool for following plot progression) The export feature produces and sends a finished manuscript to the wordprocessor complete with cover page and word count. The standard manuscript format meets the requirements of virtually all agents and publishing houses.

Some of the advanced features are a little complicated while others seem completely pointless. Overall LeftMargin Pro performed better than most comparable programs.
