Opera

Type of program: Internet Appliance
Supported platforms: Win32s/Mac/Linux/Solaris/QNX/OS/2
Company name: Opera Software ASA
Version: 7.52
Cost: Free
Installed size: 6 Mb
The installation of Opera is easy and intuitive. You can place
the program files where you want them. When you first run Opera you have a
choice to make. You can either pay for Opera right away or pick which kinds of
ads the free version will display. The choices are text ads based on your
browsing habits or generic graphical ads. You can change this choice at any
time.
The first thing you may notice is that Opera has the toolbar icons on the side
of the browser instead of the top like IExplorer, a nice touch I think. Somehow
it has a cleaner look too.
Lets get a couple of things straight. First of all Opera is not some
Johnny-Come-Lately copycat browser it has been around for years and the reason
that it is still around is that it is a superior product. Second of all Opera is
not just a web browser, it a fully featured internet client. With opera you get
a highly versatile Internet browser, with a pop-up blocker, an e-mail client
with spam blocker, a newsreader, IRC chat, Google integrated search, password
and cookie manager.
One of the features of Opera that I can't do without is tabbed browsing. With
tabbed browsing instead of having multiple browsers open you can open multiple
webpages in the same browser and they are accessible by clicking on the tabs.
In conclusion, whether you are an novice or an expert you will find that Opera
has the features you have been looking for. It does it all, it is truly the only
all in one internet appliance!
