Basically WhistFun is a mixture of Spades and Whist. In this
game the trumps suit is not always spades, it changes with each hand dealt. You
are also not penalized for gaining more tricks than you bid and you cannot bid
zero tricks. Trumps may be played at any time when you cannot follow suit or are
playing the lead card.
Each player is dealt 13 cards and trumps for that hand is shown in the top left
hand corner of the screen. The dealer for each hand is decided at random and the
player to the left of the dealer makes a bid on how many tricks he/she will make
followed in a clockwise direction by the other players.
When it is your turn to make a bid you pick the number of tricks you expect to
make. The bid of you and your pardner are added together same as the bids of the
other team is. The player to the left of the dealer then leads a card. Any card
at all can be played, including a trump. Others must then follow suit if they
can. Otherwise they may trump to try and win the trick if they do not have the
suit led.
The program will take care of scoring for you. The game is played to 300. You
can change the speed the cards are played and change or add your name. You can
find out which is the cleverest player after the game is registered. You can
view your stats. In the demo you can play 10 runs, or times; then you must
register this program.
