The installation of Tidy Start Menu is easy and intuitive. You
can place the program files where you want them.
Here is what Tidy Start Menu does. It helps you regroup easily all of the
programs in your Start Menu. You can download the Freeware version, and maybe
you will find that is all you need. It allows you to sort your Start Menu items
into these categories, Office, Utilities, Entertainment, Internet, Programming,
Security and Others. Personally I prefer to spend the $24.99 and get the
extended version in which you can make as many categories as you want.
Here is how it works. You open the program, and it has a window by window
approach. What I mean is that first a window opens that has Office as the
category, there is a window on the left where you can put a check mark into each
of your present Start Menu Items that you want to be in that new category in
your new Start Menu, then you click next and the next category opens and you go
through the same procedure. The window on the right side is for showing what is
in the folders on the left hand side (in the professional mode).
So of course the amount of time it takes to go through this process all depends
on how big and unwieldy your current Start Menu is. When you have everything
organized to your satisfaction, you just go to Finish and push the Start
Processing Button.
But oh, when you are done! What a relief! Now that is how I wanted my Start Menu
to look!
In conclusion, run don't walk, and download Tidy Start Menu, because if you are
reading this you need it.
