FileZilla

Screenshot
Type of Program: FTP-client
Supported Platforms: Win9x/ME/NT4/2000/XP
Company Name: Free Software Foundation
Version: 2.2.1
Price: 0
Installed Size: 11.4 Mb
The installation of FileZilla is just a bit different than the
ones you are used to. First of all you are allowed to pick from numerous
languages. Then there is the selection of components, you can pick from
Standard, Full or Custom. I choose Standard. You can place the program files
where you want them. Then you pick from either secure mode or non-secure (in
secure mode FileZilla does not remember passwords). Then you pick where
FileZilla stores it's settings, either the registry or a XML file. The XML is
recommended. That is what I choose.
Now that it is installed now what? Well like a lot of FTP clients it has a Site
Manager that allows you to keep the login data on a number of sites stored.
Unlike most of the others though it does not come with any preloaded sites. Here
is what you are going to find. An easy to use intuitive interface. A FTP client
that is fast to connect, has the ability to modify file attributes, resume
downloads and do custom commands.
Here is the list of Main features from the website:
Ability to resume Uploads/Downloads (if the server supports it)
Custom Commands
Site Manager with folders
Keep Alive system
Timeout detection
Firewall support
SOCKS4/5 and HTTP1.1 Proxy support
SSL secured connections
SFTP support
Upload/Download Queue
Drag&Drop
Multi-language support
GSS authentication and encryption using Kerberos
So what is the downside? None absolutely none. This is really great FTP client
that is sure to please. And since it is free you may even jump up and down with
joy!
