The file that you download from ElcomSoft is a zipped file so to run the install you have to extract the files to a folder then run the setup. Other than that the installation is easy and intuitive. You can place the program files where you want them.

Of course the first thing that you want to do with Advanced Disk Catalog is catalog a disk. To do that you go to Edit|Add volume then point to the disk you want to catalog. Then Advanced Disk Catalog goes to work and in a few seconds that part is done. Then you are prompted to name the Disk Catalog and at that time you can categorize the disk too. You make your own categories.

So what would you want to use Advanced Disk Catalog for? Well that is an easy question to answer. Here are some of the reasons. First of all you can use Advanced Disk Catalog to catalog your disk drives. A good reason to that is that Advanced Disk Catalog can then do much faster and more defined searches than the Windows search can.

But what I find is Advanced Disk Catalog really handy for is cataloging all of those burned cd's I have. Then when I am looking for something I don't have to guess which cd it is on and literally spend hours going through that mountain. Nope, now all i do is search Advanced Disk Catalog and in no time at all I find what I'm looking for.

In conclusion if you don't find Advanced Disk Catalog well worth the $20 I'll eat your hat! It is easy to use, saves you time, and can do all kinds of searches, from basic to advanced.

Try It! Buy It!
