The installation of ExamDiff Pro is easy and intuitive. You can
place the program files where you want them. Plus you are given the choice of
whether or not you want a Desktop Icon.
When you start the trial version of ExamDiff Pro you are told that it is a 30
day trial version. More than fair I would say.
Ok lets get into nits and gritties. The first thing I did was to take a text
file I had copy it and paste it into a new file, then make a couple of changes
to it. Then I fed it to ExamDiff Pro. Well as you might expect from a product
with the rep and longevity of ExamDiff Pro in less than one shake of a lambs
tail it had found those differences and showed them to me in a really effective
manner.
What it did to to show me the differences was to:
a: First of all it numbered all the lines in both files.
b: It shaded in both files those lines with the differences.
c: It made the text that was different red.
Take a look at this Screenshot taken from their site:

Here is what they say on their webpage:
You may not need to compare files and folders often, but when you need it, no
tool is more powerful than ExamDiff Pro. Whether you want to synchronize two
directories, compare two versions of your documents, or figure out what bytes
got changed in a Windows DLL, ExamDiff Pro will get the job done.
Plus:
a) ExamDiff Pro can compare files/directory right from Windows Explorer (using
the right-click on an item or a pair of items).
b) ExamDiff Pro allows to compare two clipboard fragments from its Compare
dialog.
c) ExamDiff Pro allows to ignore programming language comments.
d) ExamDiff Pro allows to compare PDF, Excel, Word files etc. via plug-ins.
I then used ExamDiff Pro to compare directories. I used it to compare a
directory in a backup and the same directory that I knew had changed after the
backup. ExamDiff Pro did the same great job there that it did with the file
compare.
For you developers you are going to find ExamDiff Pro useful for comparing
binary files.
So is comparison the end of the deal? Nope it will do synchronization too.
In conclusion, if you are not using ExamDiff Pro for all of your file comparison
needs you are wasting time. ExamDiff Pro is the best. Hands Down!
