PowerDesk

Type of Program: File Manager
Supported Platforms: Win 98/ME/2000/XP
Company Name: Avanquest Software
Version: 6.013
Price: $0
Installed Size: 14.5 Mb
The installation of PowerDesk is easy and intuitive. You can
place the program files where you want them. During the installation process you
are given these choices:
Associate zip archives with PowerDesk
Associate other archive types with PowerDesk
Replace MS Explorer with PowerDesk when opening My Computer and folders
Load Dialog Helper to enhance Open and Save As dialogs
Add PowerDesk shortcut to the current user's Quick Launch toolbar
Ok here is the deal. This version of PowerDesk is Freeware, and the company is
hoping that you will like it so much that you will upgrade to the Pro version
which has more features. To see a comparison of the two go to:

That said you may find that PowerDesk is all you need. It certainly is a whole
lot better than Windows Explorer. It has a dual pane view that really makes file
management easier, plus it shows all of the drives at the top. It also has a
bunch of other buttons in that top area that will make your life easier, there
are buttons for trash, for different pane views, also for cut, copy and paste.
My favorite are the view option buttons (like for list. details etc.).
Something else that makes PowerDesk standout is it's file search feature called
File Finder. pretty slick.
In conclusion, will you want just PowerDesk or will you want the upgrade to
PowerDesk Pro? Well only you can answer that. What I can answer is that the
Freeware version of PowerDesk is 10 times better that Windows Explorer so that
you would have to an idiot not to use it.
