The installation of CyberDefender AntiSpyware 2006 is easy and
intuitive. You can place the program files where you want them. At the end of
the installation process you will have two choices to make. The first one is
whether or not you want a desktop icon, the other is their security toolbar.
When you have finished the installation you are asked if you want a scan done
right away. I picked yes, but then it appeared to me that nothing happened. So I
started it from the Programs Menu.
After about 10 minutes I got this:
Since I thought when they said "Try Now! on their webpage it meant I would get a
trial period of some sort I picked no. I then attempted to remove the "Spyware"
by checking them all and hitting the "Remove Selected Items" button. I got that
same damn buy now screen.
Plus ZoneAlarm warned me that CyberDefender AntiSpyware 2006 was trying to
access the internet. Oh golly trying to access the internet without asking for
permission! What do we call that? How about Spyware!
After a couple more minutes I got this one:
However as far as I could tell, it for sure did not shut down, and I didn't see
any updating going on.
I'm sorry, this may be a good piece of software, but I really don't like this
kind of marketing tactics.
So I uninstalled it and did a System Restore. (During the uninstall it came up
with a "make me an offer price", I picked no, and of curse it tried to access
the internet again)
