IconLover is a program for creating and managing icon, and cursor files. When you start IconLover your greeted by a nag screen reminding you that your on a thirty day trial of the program. After you've dispensed the nag your brought to a screen asking what you'd like to do. Some of the possible choices from this point are: create a new icon, find existing icons on your PC, download icons from the net or... I quote... "extract all icons from your computer".

I played with the program for a bit and made a new icon. Icon lover offered me several choices for this including icon size and color depth. I made my choices and was brought to an editing screen filled with colors and options. I make no claim to being an artist but I tinkered around and made a few things that looked well.. Icon-ish. All the standard image editing tools are included such as crop, zoom, rotate, area tools, text tools etc and all are in a familiar place if you've ever used an image editor before you'll be iconing in no time.

Besides working with icons you can also create and work with cursors or animations meaning if you want to create theme elements or tweak out more of your desktop you don't need to go searching for another program. IconLover could be a fun toy for customizing your desktop or a tool used in creating themes. While I tend to lean towards the fun and frilly side and even turned my cat in to an icon with the "create icon from picture" option
I'm sure the more productive folks out there would find this a useful application as well.

The help file included is fairly extensive and help on their website is offered as well(even in other languages). The price tag for IconLover is 49.95 which is a little hefty but if you need a stable program for tweaking out some of the smallest parts of your desktop its not a bad choice.
