SkinStudio is a application for customizing your Windows GUI and
various parts of the Windows system(such as media player). With SkinStudio you
can customize virtually any area of the Windows shell.
The program seems to have a lot of options and lets you edit about any thing you
can imagine within Windows. If you don't like your windows start button, change
it and make a new one. If that scroll arrow doesn't look right in black make it
neon pink..
At least in theory. I'll be the first to admit I'm not graphically inclined and
I'm afraid you'll need to be to use this program there doesn't seem to be a
quick or easy way to get in to SkinStudio and after ten minutes I was still as
confused about its use as when I opened it. There doesn't seem to be any preset
skins to tinker with only the default from the windows shell which I was
hesitant to mess with.. After all if I loose my start button I'm in trouble(Lets
face it, its been awhile since I started Firefox from a command line).
All the options seem to be in SkinStudio, letting you tweak about anything you
want but even after a extended tinkering and a browse though the included help
files I just couldn't do what I wanted to with it. If your graphically inclined
and used to making skins SkinStudio may be a good choice.
However if your graphically challenged or not used to creating skins from
scratch this program is probably going to be overwhelming and frustrating which
is exactly what I found it to be.
