PC Chaperone is a program for enacting parental controls or
restricting access to a computer. When you start the program you are greeted by
a wizard which walks you through the initial setup. Some of the things the
wizard walks you through include adding users, setting up their access, setting
up restrictions for each user, scheduling events to run, and adding Internet
restrictions.
The Internet filter offers options to block adult content, casinos, shareware
sites, warez sites, news, social sites(such as myspace), or even sites that
might contribute to plagiarism. If you don't want to block sites by category you
can also white list, or blacklist certain pages or even allow only sites on the
white list so no other domains can be viewed Which sounds useful if you don't
want your kids leaving a site like www disney.com while you leave them
unattended.
Once your done with the wizard, you can always go in to the programs' main
screen and make changes, view reports and tweak other things like toggling on or
off peer to peer file sharing, or maybe even logging keystrokes. Overall PC
Chaperone does what it is supposed to, it offers full control to a parent or
system administrator who needs to set restrictions on computer use.
It's all very straight forward and includes a user manual if you get lost.
If you need parent control software, or something to keep naughty employees in
line this program will do everything you ask of it.
