PromptPal is a program which adds a bit cleaner look to the old
DOS prompt and some useful tools.
I had really high hopes for this program when I was installing it, and while it
didn't quite live up to my expectations it does look a bit cleaner.
Some of the things PromptPal will do for you are allow you to properly cut, copy
and paste, insert folder paths in to the command box by browsing to them in a
windows explorer box, and if you aren't up on your list of dos commands it
provides a list of them for you and even provides an explanation of what they do
and gives an example of how they are used. You can even print from PromptPal or
save the text to of the command window to a file without having to try to copy
using the old style DOS method.
In short, PromptPal is not a bad program and it does offer some nice additions
to the old dos box. However, it won't let you do simple things I would have
liked to have seen like change the font or background color.
While these are personal opinions on things I'd like to have seen I won't fault
the program too much for not having them as it is a step in the right direction,
its just it has a couple more steps to go before I am ready to plop down thirty
dollars.
