The installation of Pocket Informant 8 is easy and intuitive. The downloaded file is an exe so you just run it from the PC that is connected to your Mobile computer via ActiveSync. Incidentaly Pocket Informant 8 is one of the very few Win Mobile programs that has gone through the trouble of getting Certified by Microsoft so you don't get that message that "This software is from an unknown pulisher etc..". Shows that WebIS are real pros.

The first time that you open Pocket Informant 8 you are informed that it is a 15 day trial version - fair enough.

Also the first time you open Pocket Informant 8 you are at a screen that gets you started out by trying to figure out what kind of Pocket Informant 8 user you are going to be. They call this roles. Here is how the company describes them:
There are four major Roles that Pocket Informant 8 provides:

• Pocket Outlook with Benefits: This mode and set of defaults hides functionality such as links and journal and power user menus to gives you a simple interface with the basic foundational benefits of Pocket Informant.

• Appointment Focused: This set of defaults turns on all the advanced calendar features in the Calendar view and keeps everything else simple. You can configure all settings at your leisure.

• Task Focused: This set of defaults turns on all the advanced task features in the Calendar and Tasks view and keeps everything else simple. You can configure all settings at your leisure.

• Standard User: This set of defaults turns on all the most used features and display options and hides the less used features such as linking. You can configure all settings at your leisure.

• Power User: This default enables all features of Pocket Informant and gives you complete control. You can configure all settings at your leisure.

I choose Power User so that I could at my leisure enable or disable functions of Pocket Informant 8. So what do we have here? Well we have the Events, Journal, Appointments, Tasks, Notes, Contacts, and Search views. Appointment view broken into Agenda, Day, Week, Month, and Timeline Views.

In conclusion Pocket Informant 8 has been around since 2000, and WebIS has over the years taken the time to make Pocket Informant 8 the most powerful PIM available for the Windows Mobile market - hands down.
