Are you in a situation where there are some programs that you want to be
able to run without a big hassle, but you don't want others to be able to use them? You
know those programs you want to keep the kids away from, or programs like Quicken, where
nobody need know that you owe Visa 100 big ones.
Well then Private.EXE could be the answer. It certainly installs easy, and runs like
dream. This thing is a real no brainer from the get go. First of all it lets you put the
program itself anywhere on any drive you want using a browse feature. Then it offers to
save Backups of any files it changes, then after the 30 second installation it will open a
Readme that is easy to read, and really in a short space tells you how the program
operates, and how to operate the program.
It doesn't modify Windows Registry or any other part of the operating system. Neither does
it create any hidden files or disk sectors - it only modifies the executable itself,
saving the original file under a different name for your safety.
The program is so easy to use I never had to use the Help system. I mean how difficult can
it be to find the executable of the program you want to password protect and then pick a
password for it. That is all you have to do. Then when you attempt to open the password
protected program a window pops up asking for the password. There is a real incentive to
register this program. Randomly when you attempt to open the password protected program it
will offer to bypass the password. This "feature" is removed after you register.
