Get ready to experience airborne combat the way the US Airforce does it! A10-Cuba! isthe nearest thing to reality you will ever experience at home on your own PC anytime this century. You will also be excused for thinking this game was borrowed straight from the flight training simulation computers at U.S.A.F headquarters itself!

Your mission in the A10-Cuba! demo sees you taking off in your fully armed and refueled A10 bound for the international airport.

near Guantanamo City. You are accompanied by two F-15’s, and three A-10’s. You must bomb this airport to prevent the enemy Mig 29’s from taking off and attacking you and your crew. After neutralizing the airport runway with your Mk84 laser guided bombs you must continue due north for several more miles, all the while avoiding the SAM’s and AAA fire, to destroy three well defended ammo dumps. Before takeoff you check your cockpit instruments and taxi to the end of runway 9.

This flight simulation becomes so realistic that it pays to read the help files. There are so many things to remember if you are to return home safely! Don’t arm your weapons until after take-off, in case you mess things up and blow yourself and the entire USAF into oblivion. Should I cruise to the first waypoint in autopilot? Which weapon should I arm first - the HARM Anti-radar missile or the AIM-9L sidewinder? You have at least a dozen different weapons slung under your fuselage, it really pays to know which weapons are the most effective depending on the various situations you will encounter in a combat mission.

Activision have developed such an exciting and realistic game you will find yourself gasping as you fumble for the trigger when you see the words ‘LOCKED’ screaming at you from your Heads Up Display (HUD). If your flying skills are not up to scratch you are definitely going to careen out of control into the deep blue sea. So, remember when you have been hit by an exocet missile press Z to put out the fire in your left engine, or X for the right engine. And if all is lost press ALT-E to eject to safety (hopefully!).

This is without doubt the most realistic and life-like flying simulation you will ever play. In fact, after you have mastered this game you could quite easily step into a real plane and pass your civil aviation exam. Truly!

The full version comes on CD ROM and includes 4 training missions, 4 network missions and 12 full missions. Minimum requirements include Windows 95, 486 DX2-66, 20mb HDD space, and the DirectX v2+ drivers (included on CD-ROM). The demo version used in this review does not include the DirectX drivers - hopefully your computer has these installed for other Windows 95 only games, or grab a copy from the Microsoft website.
