You say the Usenet is to complicated, hard to use. Then you are missing a
big part of the Net. The best way to figure it out is a good Usenet Reader. Agent is one
of the best. A great specialized program that will meet all users Usenet needs.
Agent is one of the best News Reader Clients available. This program makes sorting through
the groups and messages on the Usenet a breeze. There is also a freeware version of the
program know as Free Agent. This program is a specialized News Reader, but also allows you
to e-mail.
Agent splits your screen into three windows, allowing you to configure them in any number
of ways. You can also can pick one window to look at, which makes it much easier to view
long message headers. When you first connect to the Net it pulls down all the groups your
provider carries. You then subscribe to those groups that interest you. Agent allows you
to shift back and forth between the group you have subscribed to, all groups, and the new
groups your provider has added. Another great feature is the ability to create folders in
agent. This allows you to take messages for different groups and organize them for easier
retrieval and sorting.
A very easy program to customize, Agent also provides flexible kill and watch options. The
program allows the user to download all groups that you subscribed to or just the ones
that you highlight. Agent provides an address book so you can keep track of people you
meet on the Usenet, and a spell checker to make sure you do not embarrass yourself while
posting a message that over 30 million people can read.
