You'll feel right at home with the Windows look and feel of Clip Cache, a
powerful clipboard enhancement program that has drag-and-drop, property sheets, and
right-click context menus. Its three-pane viewer will remind you of Outlook Express, with
its View options, horizontal split windows, preview pane, and "group" (folder)
viewer along the left margin. All your stored clips, from text to bitmap images, are
easily located, viewed, and organized with few clicks of your mouse.
Clip Cache can be set to auto-capture, allows you to set storage options according to
storage size or age, and minimizes to a system tray icon for easy access. To verify
captures, you may select the sound option, and you may designate hotkeys for clipped items
frequently accessed.
This program is as simple or as advanced as you choose, or need, to make it, with options
available to all the file-save and capture maneuvers you could expect to make. While the
Clip Cache window size can be changed to any dimension you want, it allows most practical
viewing when it's sized to about one-quarter of the screen. Other clipboard viewers may be
smaller, but Clip Cache certainly gives you plenty of detail (e.g., file size, format,
date) that's nice to have if you need it.
Best of all, it's free and fully functional. The author requests only that downloaders
drop him an email (below) if they plan to use the program, so he can keep current on the
installed base, and collect feedback for future revisions.
