I'm a sucker for freeware, especially freeware that does simple things
simply. CLS-TaskIcon is one of those programs. It allows you to create system tray icons
for loading your frequently-used programs, or to place one icon in the system tray which
becomes a mini-start menu. Installation involves merely unzipping the file. Configuration
is a snap -- open the program and then just "browse" through your files until
you find the .exe file you want.
There are a few customization options: you can decide to launch programs with a single or
double click and you can customize your icons. Other than that, however, what you see is
what you get. And it would be nice if this program was a bit more versatile -- allowing
you to place icons for folders, documents, dial-up networking, control panel, etc. But
that would make it more complicated (and there are such programs around), larger, and
probably more expensive. And that's not what this program is about.
