At first glance this looks like a fun game, but it has a few flaws that
appear to only be fixable in the registered version; and how can you tell if you like it
well enough to buy it if you're having the same problems I did.
You are racing dogs, greyhounds, to be exact, and you can train them, bet, all kinds of
things. However, you start with only $5000 and each race you enter is $1000; and each
point of training for the dogs is also $1000. The game picks randomly which of 5 dogs you
own will be in the next race. As you run out of money, the game tells you to sell a dog,
which is disabled in the shareware version; which means you can go broke as soon as 2-3
turns into the game. I pushed it even after I was out of money, and the game would only
let you get a couple of grand in the hole and then they threw you completely out of the
game. When your dogs lose a race they tell you to train them more, but with only $5000 to
start and the necessity of taking 5 dogs, that doesn't go far.
I also tried betting on the other dogs, training mine a little, or training them a lot,
and it seems to be based more on skill than anything else.
I'm also sorry to say that even before I got thrown out for being broke, I looked at the
options, and I don't think the game is worth $55.
