The main reason I use Keyboard Express is to automate the typing of
repetitive keystroke tasks such as my e-mail address, passwords and other keyboard
intensive operations. I can record, input and play back any set of keystrokes associated
with one of over 500 different "hot keys" that I assign as I create these
"keyboard macros". Each recorded macro can store up to 5,000 keystrokes. What a
time saver. For short entries such as an e-mail address or password you simply assign a
hot key combination , say CTRL E, type the information into the template window and save
it. Keyboard Express is loaded at startup and is in the background out of the way. To use
a stored Keyboard Express macro you hit key combination you previously saved and the task
is completed. For those long macros that include launching a program or numerous
keystrokes a recording feature called auto-capture is available in KE to write this macro
for you.
You can Print a list of your hot keys for future reference from the "FILE" menu
in KE. As your list of recorded "Hot Keys" grows the printed list serves as a
handy reminder of what is assigned a keyboard macro and the associated hot keys to invoke
it.
You can schedule macros to play at given time intervals: such as the startup of keyboard
express, hourly, daily (choose any or all days of the week), weekly, monthly, one given
time or every "x" minutes. Include timed delays or pauses in the macros and add
instructions or comments for users during pauses as the macro is being utilized.
Keyboard Express 2.5 features the ability to run over a network, including an optional
browse only mode. The new network option allows file locking of macros to prevent the
overwriting of data by two or more users. An optional synchronization mechanism can be set
to automatically update a users computer every "x" minutes if the macro
file has been changed by another user. When a user attempts to modify the macro file,
their computer will automatically be updated for any changes made by other users before
the modification is allowed.
It's been quite a long time since I have come out and recommended a shareware program.
Keyboard Express goes to the top of my favorite shareware programs list, it really does
deserve a test drive for 30 days.
A 30 day shareware evaluation copy of Keyboard Express may be downloaded from their WWW
site on the Internet.
