Lexicon is a word building game that uses Scrabble-like tiles in creative
new ways. You can play against up to three computer players, or if you have the registered
version you can play against other people online. There are three separate games you can
play, each with its own set of rules. My favorite is Eliminus, where you pull tiles off
the board to form words for points (sort of reverse Scrabble, if you will). Populatica and
Tumblara are the other two word based games, both involving building words from the
available alphabet tile set.
In the demo version, you play against Easy Ed; with the registered version you can also go
up against Average Joe and Tough Tom, who are increasingly more competent players with
better vocabularies. The game is set within a jungle theme, with elaborate tropical
graphics and sounds, including a very pleasing background jazz option.
The program is a feature limited demo, but with sufficient functionality that you can play
the games quite adequately or register the product to enable even more features including
an editable dictionary, trophy board, opponent selection and online play. This fun and
educational game seems suitable for almost any age groups from elementary school to
adults.
