More Space is a piece of software that I'd
definitely call a "keeper". I have changed computers 3
times in the last year (only once was actually by choice!) and
More Space was always one of the first pieces of software that I
installed. Why? Because of its ability to get rid of unwanted
files and free up disk space.
Say, for example, your computer came with a 2 gigabyte hard
drive, and a few months later you have only have one gigabyte
left back and you are wondering what you could have installed
that took up that much space. Well you have two options. You can
go into all your directories and subdirectories and check to see
how much space they are taking up OR you can use More Space. It
can check one or multiple hard drive and list exactly which
obsolete or duplicate files are hogging up your disk space.
It is not always easy to tell which applications are taking up
the most space. I once downloaded this piece of shareware that
saved my system configuration on startup. It was less than 1MB
but little did I know that every time it saved my system
configuration, each configuration took up 1.1MB!! (and keep in
mind that it did this on a daily basis and it took me months to
figure this out!). More Space helped to solve this dilemma of
lost disk space and I saved more than 250MB!
Other applications can also tell you what files or folders take
up the most space but More Space is the only one I know that
actually lets you delete these files or folders from within the
program. More Space also has some other great features like a
compressing files marked for deletion into ZIP files
automatically, internet cache folder cleanup, and the ability to
list folders not to delete (to prevent those accidental deletes
of important folders).
